This is the site for the films, "The Dance Is Not Over" (2025) and "Leaves of Grass: Illuminated" (2021) . Both films feature Patrick Scully. The first is a bio-pic on his life and work and the second is a performance film on his show at the Guthrie theater.
Patrick is an internationally known dancer, gay activist and publicly HIV-positive man. He has danced professionally, since 1976, in Minnesota, New York, and Berlin. His work is infused with his political views on sexuality, the body, and society.

Join us at Quatrefoil Library on Sunday March 29th from 7-9pm for an after-hours viewing of the Dance is Not Over. This feature length documentary stars MN cultural legend Patrick Scully as he dives deep about his 50 year career as a dancer, choreographer and artistic founder of Patrick’s Cabaret.
‘The Dance is Not Over’ was filmed over six years and framed around the rehearsals of Scully’s dance company as they rehearse for their sold out shows at the Guthrie theater. Filmed in beautiful 4K resolution by cinematographer Gregory Winter, the movie zooms in on secrets of Scully’s; Early years, as he finds his movement in Contact Improv, dances with Remy Charlip in New York, Patrick’s Cabaret, battles the 90’s culture wars and presents his homoerotic personification of Walt Whitman in “Leaves of Grass: Illuminated”.
The film screening will be followed by a Q&A with star Patrick Scully. No RSVP required, all are welcome. We hope to see you there!
